WHERE IN THE BIBLE DID MOSES DIE?
It was recorded in the Bible that Moses died on Mount Nebo, also known as Pisgah. This event is recorded in the Book of Deuteronomy, which is the fifth book of the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament. Specifically, Moses’ death is described in Deuteronomy 34:1–5.
Located in Jordan, Mount Nebo is a high ridge rising about 700 meters above sea level. Mount Nebo, which is a part of the Abarim mountain range, is referenced in the Bible as the location where Moses was given a glimpse of the Promised Land just before he died.
Deuteronomy 34:1–5 “Then, Moses ascended Mount Nebo, which is located across from Jericho, from the Moabite plains to the summit of Pisgah. The land from Gilead to Dan, all of Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all of Judah as far as the Mediterranean Sea, the Negev and the entire area from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar, was revealed to him by the Lord.
Then the Lord spoke to him, saying, “I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it.” This is the land that I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, “I will give it to your descendants.” And there in Moab, the Lord’s servant Moses passed away.”
